The Story Behind This Print

From Dust to Bloom

Abigail's Letters

Abigail Smith Adams (1744–1818) wrote over 1,200 letters to her husband John while he shaped a nation in Philadelphia. On March 31, 1776, she penned the most famous line in American women's history: "Remember the Ladies." Our print translates her quiet insistence into quill pens, wax seals, folded letters, and Massachusetts sailing ships on deep indigo denim.

"Wear the words she sent through war — the polite insistence that built half a nation."
