Sybil's Midnight Ride
On April 26, 1777, sixteen-year-old Sybil Ludington rode 40 miles through a thunderstorm to rally her father's militia against the British burning of Danbury, Connecticut — twice the distance of Paul Revere's famous ride. Our print captures her courage in galloping horses, swinging lanterns, rain streaks, and crescent moons on midnight indigo.
